Philosophy Statement:
Being proficient in academic reading and writing is the basis for success for all students in each content area. To support students in reaching this important goal, teachers need a clear understanding of current reading theory and a working knowledge of best practices in literacy instruction and assessment. This knowledge will enable teachers to design and implement balanced literacy programs that meet the needs of all students in their classrooms.
